Spring is Here ~ Maybe…

Time to kick start my photo blog, MonicaZImagery! No more procrastinating on this.

As a word of introduction, my name is Monica Zikusooka. Since no one can pronounce, let alone spell my last name, I go by Monica Z. I am an amateur photographer and I’m still learning many things. Ok… then why am I writing a blog when I am no professional and I don’t know it all?? Because that’s it, I don’t know it all. So often, I go to these websites and other blogs and you see these amazing photos and you’re overwhelmed, thinking how in the world can I get that good? Then you go to his Gear page and it lists 3 cameras, 20 lenses, 2 tripods, bags, filters, converter lenses and so on. Even more disheartening.

I have one camera, two lenses and a small bag. No problem!! I can still do photos and I can still learn. I’m hoping to share my journey of learning and my passion for photography here.

While the rest of the country is basking in above season temperatures, here in the Pacific Northwest, it’s been raining almost non-stop for 6 weeks straight with quite chilly temps. Even last week, we’ve been seeing forecasts for the occasional snow. Yay!! Finally, today, we’ve had beautiful sunshine. With that in mind, it’s almost time to get ready for the 2012 Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Here’s a beautiful photo from last year’s festival.

  1. I truly agree with Beth! Your images are lovely, and go for the great glass…a camera can always be changed out and upgraded. amazing images can be captured on nearly any camera, it is the photographer that makes the image artistic and amazing. Your doing great!
